This slide, titled 'One Health, Zero Waste: Reducing Food Waste for a Healthier Planet,' highlights how interconnected our well-being is with the food we consume and, more importantly, the food we throw away. The central graphic illustrates the core idea of One Health – that human, animal, and environmental health are all linked. When we waste less food, we positively impact all three.

AI generated modern paint, 1st EPAL Nafpaktou
We asked ChatGpt to create a modern poster showing how people, animals and nature are connected. Show a woman, a cow, a bird together with Earth in the background and plants around them. To use strong, flat colors and clear shapes. To add the words: “ONE HEALTH DAY: Connecting human, animal and environmental health” and show that harming one harms all. We share one planet so we must protect it together.

The goal now: teach One Health in all schools and protect the planet for the future.

International Day of Sport for Development & Peace.
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) is celebrated annually on April 6th. This day is dedicated to recognizing the potential of sport in fostering positive social change, bridging societal barriers and transcending boundaries. Established by the United Nations General Assembly, this day emphasizes sport’s vital role in advancing peace, equality, and inclusive growth.
As a growing force for social good, sport is increasingly recognized for its ability to empower disadvantaged populations and promote social inclusion, peace, and justice. The 2025 theme, “Leveling the Playing Field: Sport for Social Inclusion” highlights how sport can be a dynamic tool for tackling social issues, such as gender and racial inequality, and fostering greater inclusion for all.
Apart from celebrating together IDSDP 2025 at the collaborative online meeting held through Webex on Thursday, April 3rd, students had the opportunity to be inspired by the stories of two dedicated athletes- one a student, the other a teacher. Their personal journeys highlight the power of sport to overcome challenges and foster resilience. Students took the role of interviewer, preparing and asking their questions to learn more about their experiences and what sport means to them.

International Day of Forests
The International Day of Forests 2025, observed on Friday, March 21, 2025, carries the theme 'Forests and Food' to highlight the vital connection between forests and Global Food Security.
Forests provide more than just wood; they offer fruits, nuts, seeds, edible plants and medicinal resources that support the nutrition and livelihoods of over a billion people, especially in rural and Indigenous communities. They also play a critical role in sustaining agriculture by preserving soil health, regulating water cycles and supporting pollinators. In times of crisis, forests often act as a natural safety net, supplying essential resources when other food systems fail. Protecting and sustainably managing forests is therefore essential not only for environmental health and climate resilience, but also for ensuring access to diverse and nutritious food for current and future generations.
World Water Day
World Water Day is a global event that focuses on the importance of freshwater and advocates for the sustainable management of water resources. Water is essential to life, yet billions of people worldwide still lack access to safe drinking water.

Create an Eco-Friendly Campaign by using any Web 2.0 tool to design a campaign that promotes green energy.
-
Develop an Eco-Action Plan with eco-friendly practices that could be adapted at home or school.
-
Color your Easter eggs with natural dye coming from plants such as beets, onions, red cabbage, turmeric, etc.
and post them to a padlet.

Invest Smartly
Celebrated annually on June 5th, World Environment Day is a global event that encourages awareness and action for the protection of our environment. The annual theme for World Environment Day 2025 is “Beat Plastic Pollution”, also phrased as ending plastic pollution. The Mediterranean Diet emphasizes plant-based foods, local produce and minimal processing. This approach naturally aligns with efforts to reduce plastic use.
Students created an engaging infographic with the web 2.0 tool of your choice that encourages your community to choose fresh, unpackaged foods and avoid single-use plastic packaging. Showed how these choices support both a healthy diet and a healthier planet. They were asked to upload photos or videos of your organization’s World Environment Day celebrations, and to revisit the insightful presentation by Mr. Varzakas, delivered during the Schools Go to University activity at the University of Peloponnese (11/03/2025).
